Can you give some advice on handling jealousy?

My two daughters have babies 3 weeks apart. My grandson was born March 4, and my granddaughter was born March 27. My youngest daughter lives about a half hour away. She will come and spend a couple of days with me, so I can spend some time with Briyanna. My other daughter and Alex live with me. I see Alex and spend time with him all the time. When both of my grandbabies are here, both of my daughters say I am doing more for one baby than I am the other. I try my best to spend equal amount of time with both babies and to do the same amount of things for both babies. I see Alex every day, but I only see Briyanna a couple times a week. I babysit Alex sometimes, but I haven't Briyanna. I love my daughters and grandbabies, so how do I work out the jealousy between them? Can you give some advice on handling jealousy?
I think you need to sit down and explain this to them. They wont know if you dont tell them. As for them i think they need to grow up and just be thankful there children have a loving granparent that spends any amount of time with them and their childrenCan you give some advice on handling jealousy?
You know, I am really annoyed with your daughters. Really, they are just being ungrateful brats!

YOU can't work out their ';grievances'; for them. I'd be inclined to tell them (together) that it seems like you are the ONLY one who loves all of them, which gives you the best view of the whole situation. What should be a perfectly wonderful time for all of you is being ruined FOR all of you by their stopwatch mentality. I'd then say ';I'm going out window shopping now while you two do whatever it takes to come to your senses.'; If it's true, I'd add ';You weren't this unreasonably jealous when YOU were kids.';

Well, I am just feeling grumpy now, but I can feel nobler if it's on your behalf LOL.

Good luck in restoring happy times for all :-)
That's a tough one. To make them see how silly they are acting, start saying (when 1 needs something), ';I'd love to help but it's not their turn';, and explain to the daughters why you are doing that.(that you are trying to divide your time equally). Maybe they will soon get the picture. Your daughters are being childish themselves. Good luck and Congrats on the new babies.
Say in a cheerful, singsong voice...';There's only one of me and two of them!';

What's the WORST advice you've been given as a pregnant woman?

I know there are lots of ';old wives tales'; - some of which do actual harm.

Asking my other question sparked the idea, what's the worst thing that you were told to do or not do?

I remember someone telling my friend that she shouldn't take too long of a walk - which was kinda crazy as long as she's healthy enough to do it!

What have you heard? What's the WORST advice you've been given as a pregnant woman?
i heard so many while i was pregnant! some were just common sense to know they were wrong!

the ones i can remember off the top of my head...

i was told by my grandma not to take a bath while pregnant because germs could get in your ';girly parts'; (that's what she called them). i was told by my dr to take bathes (not too hot though) to help relax. of course this is the same woman who went nuts one night because she stayed with us for a couple of days while my grampa was gone on a camping trip. i sleep with my arms above my head. she flipped out and said the baby was going to get strangled by the umbilical cord.

my ex's grampa said something about us getting rid of my cat. i never really understood because it didn't make sense. something about stealing the air from the baby. perhaps someone knows what this means and can explain it please! What's the WORST advice you've been given as a pregnant woman?
Honey you will hear all kinds of advice and be given all kinds of advice. Your best advice is from yourself and your Doctor.

';Old Wives Tales';

1. Don't put your arms above your head, baby could be strained and fall out.

2. Don't touch your belly when faced with a horrible sight, might mark the baby.

3. Don't exercise, puts strain on the baby.

4. Don't do any pulling or stretching, tares the cord away from baby.

5. Don't take carnival rides, scrambles the baby's brain.

Those are just a few I can recall, non of which have any merit !!!!
This is more of a silly one actually. I never really got anything that would have led to harm coming to me or the baby...Anyway someone told me not to watch scary movies (I had just seen Saw) because it would traumatize the baby and lead to me having a baby that was afraid of everything. :) Yeah.
Not to take a bath because it will cause bacteria to go into your private parts - but swimming is ok? Makes no sense.

The other one is to purchase plus size clothing instead of maternity clothes - the maternity clothes are designed to accomodate a belly sicking out - plus size clothes are designed for women to get wider. Stick with the maternity clothes.
This comment was actually given after I had the baby. I ate a lot of salsa with my first child and was told if you eat spicy foods during the pregnancy, the child will be dark. And yes my oldest child is my darkest. My mother in law claims to have eaten a lot of kimchi during her first son's pregancy and he is the darkest.
Witrh my 3rd child i was ver ver sick with the ALL da sickness. And my doctor told me the best thing to do was to take the force miscarriage pill. Ofcourse i didnt and she is 7 yrs old now. But i was lik WOW!
Not to lift anything over your head because it can cause a miscarriage. That little beauty can from my grandma... gotta love her.
I was told not to ever lift anything over my head or else I would wrap the umbilical cord around the baby's neck!
don't stretch over your head, because it will wrap the baby's cord around it's neck.
i heard from an expert not to shave or wax legs.
to drink castrol oil to induce labor.
to drink castor oil to try and go into labor
The worst thing my friend was told to do was opt for an epidural when she wanted a natural birth she ended up with an emergency c section and nearly died!

Has any of the advice on here convinced you to change the way you do things?

Or given you the confidence to carry on as you are?Just wondering if any of the advice on YA can possibly influence peoples parenting decisions.Would be interested in your opinions, thanks!Has any of the advice on here convinced you to change the way you do things?
hugley, if i ahdnt have come in here i wouldnt have knwo half the things i do now about tryin for a baby, and i swear it was the advice and support on here that finally made our dream come true.

we were told we would never concieve naturally, but motivated by the women on yahoo, we really went for it and 2 months after being told that we got our little miracle.

im an only child, and the eldest in my family (of my generation) my eldest cousin is only 11, and im 21, so i havnt had much experience with babies as an adult and my family (which is quite small) all have older children so new advice and hints on baby subjects is hard to come by. im so glad yahoo is here to help me with my queries.

i know every new mother worries about how to care for a new baby and i think its great to have some support when those niggling questions arrise that dont warrent medical advice, such as what pram to buy, what size clothes, breastfeeding q's xxxxx

best wishes xxxHas any of the advice on here convinced you to change the way you do things?
i don't think it changes the way you do things but it helps reassure you that your doing the right thing sometimes, and sometimes you get some really handy tips! I have found it very helpful and some of the advice is brilliant. I know a lot of people have strong views about how to look after babies but the good thing is there is always a range of people answering your questions and give you lots of points of view.
It hasn't changed the way I parent. If anything, it has reinforced that I am very happy with the way I do things. It has taught me a few things, like I didn't know you shouldn't feed a baby food straight from the jar, that you should put it in a bowel first (bacteria could get in the jar from baby's mouth). Little tidbits like that are what I pick up from YA.
I think it just helps to find people that can relate to a problem you are having, and to open your mind to other possibilities. For example someone may have gone through something similar to you and may be able to give you tips or ideas on what to look out for etc. Sometimes its just nice to know that your not alone if you know what I mean!
it hadn't changed any strong or set opunions, but it gives me other peoples point of view and makes me think.

i think YA! is useful when yuo actually want to know something
  • My friend just found out his dad his has prostate cancer AND skin cancer and is looking at me for advice?

What should i tell him. I mean i have known this kid since the day i was born, and it is really sad. When he told me, i was just speechless and almost cried. I dont know what to tell him. He said he doenst know if his dad is going to be able to recover. My friend just found out his dad his has prostate cancer AND skin cancer and is looking at me for advice?
be there for him and especially when he needs it the most.

a little bit longer by jonas brothers

this song, i guarantee it will make u better since that song was written about a sickness(diabetes) nick is trying to overcome. My friend just found out his dad his has prostate cancer AND skin cancer and is looking at me for advice?
honestly, there is not much you can say. My dad is dying from cancer. this is still so hard for me to believe and i am a HUGE mess. i know theres nothing my friends can say and they dont know what to say.. what you need to do is make sure he knows u are there for him. for anything, at any time. just knowing i have the greatest friends helps me alot. make sure he knows u will always be there for him. there is nothing you can say or do that will take away his pain, but it will help to know he has such an amazing friend by his side thru the whole thing.
Yogis say that cancer derives from internal conflict. If medicines aren't likely to work, I'd suggest that your friend's father stop thinking about the usual concerns in his life, and take up something more peaceful.

    ---

Otherwise, there's always religion to fall back on, and the hope of meeting loved ones again.. in the meantime, your friend should try to make the remaining time with his father as happy and free of arguments as possible, so that they'll at least have happy memories.
Wow that's heavy. He can beat this! He needs to be very positive and change his diet completely. Cancer thrives in an acidic body so the first thing to do is get alkaline. Raw apple cider vinegar and 1/8 T. baking soda 3 times a day will do amazing work in your body. He also needs A LOT of vitamin D. This is a serious deficiency in the American culture. Tell him to get direct sunlight for at least 10 minutes a day. I could go on forever but there are two sites that can give him a lot of help and hope and good health! Mercola.com and earthclinic.com

    Good luck and God Bless
I wouldnt dig a grave just yet. Both of those are survivable with good percentages. The fact he has both? shortens the hospital stay. You can doom and gloom later if things go poorly, but I would not advise it. All you need to do is be there when your friend is freaking out after taking his dad to chemo if its even needed (probably it wont). Just be there. You are the friends you always were, you can get through this, you cant take the burden but you can make it lighter. He doesnt have it, he is just broken up in worry. You can answer that with a handshake, a hug, if needed a good cry.
u neeed to offer ur ear to him and not judge him or say ';oh taht was a week ago get over it...'; that is just plain wrong! u need to offer ur ear to him like just ask him wanna talk about it etc. U know teh biggest complaint ppl have wheather its teh sick person or the family friends of them is that ppl don't seem to be tehre when tehy really need or want them to! plz be there for ur friend and his dad by visiting him if u know him even if he is healthy or not. Just be there to talk and stuff! :)
Be as encouraging as possible both cancers are treatable. If his dad just found out it is probably too soon to know how advanced they are. The best thing for you to do is be there for him.
this link may help.....it's to a cancer support group/ondex

Dont look up for big hospitals for his treatment, just come to jagdalpur, chattisgarh where ayurvedic treatment may help your uncle.
just be there for him it'll mean more then you know also be willing to just listen!!!!
I had prostate cancer in 2005 and had proton radiation treatments for it and am fine now. Proton radiation is the very best treatemnt available today in my opinion... The treatments have little to to side effects and a90% cure rate... I had my treatments in Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda California. I was not sick one single day during or after my treatments. It was like being on a 10 week vacation...My Prostate cancer is gone ..Im fine.. There is a book just out written by Robert J. Marckini called YOU CAN BEAT PROSTATE CANCER. It is a great book and anyone with Prostate cancer should have it.. It tells about prostate cancer and then describes all of the treatment options that are avaialbe today...including the good and bad points of each trype of treatment. There is also a website caled PROTON BOB... (bob stands for brotherhood of the balloon) that tells alot about Proton Radiation.. Your friend should look at the website and read the Patient Testimonial section concerning Proton Radiation... Its great.. I have also had pre cancerous skin places and had them removed.. I dont think the skin problems or prostate cancer either one will kill me.. Both can be taken care of if your friends father gets the right kind of medical treatment.. As far as chosing Proton Radiation for treatment ... thats a no brainer choice.. no side effects and a 90 % cure rate compared to other treatments... Proton Radiation is very different from conventional radiation in that 85-90% of the treatment energy is delivered or released exactly at the point being treated so therefore there is no additional tissue or organ damage as in convention radiation... so therefore ...no side effects...THe Proton Bob website tells all the places that Proton Radiaition is available.. Loma Linda Calif, MD Anderson in HOuston, Tx, Mass General in Boston, mass, a hospital in Indiana and one in jacksonville florida, I think.. It is a fairly new treatment.. and many doctors are not that familiar with it and wont recommend it.. but read the testimonials on Proton Bob and you will see that any one who has ever been treated with it is totally sold on it... Its the best... If your friend would like additional information on the treatment please have her email me... at email deal on here. .. I will be glad to share my experience with prostate cancer with her.//// Its really no big problem.. if her dad can get proton radiation treatments for it..

Ok I need help, I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to improve your singing voice?

I've done singing lessons, and my music teacher said I have a really good voice and can be really good with practice. Problem is i have trouble controling my voice even though I know how to sing properly, I just cant seem to do it(if that makes sense). Any Advice?Ok I need help, I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to improve your singing voice?
Try these techniques, I use them every day in choir and voice lessons, run these by your teacher.

    Breathing:

Place your hands on your diaphragm and breathe out counting to four, then breathe in counting to four. Do the same for three, two, then one. This will help you sustain longer notes with a shorter amount of breath. You know if you are doing this correctly if you feel slight pressure pushing against your hand.

Place your hands on your rib cage and breathe out counting 1 (breathe) 1, 2 (breathe) 1, 2, 3 (breathe)...to 10. By doing this, you learn to recognize where your breath support is coming from. If your rib cage does not expand, you are most likely singing from your throat which becomes exhausting after awhile and can damage your voice.

    Diction:

Sing scales Do Re Mi...in your comfortable range to a piano in ascending and descending octaves. Over time as your voice gets stronger, you'll be able to stretch your notes on either side of the piano.

Of course singing La la la in the same fashion always works.

Sing silly words like zingamomma zingamomma zingamomma zingamomma zing zing zing to sharpen your consonents.

    Ah-leh-eh-loo-uh and Mee-meh-maw-moh-moo for vowels.

I just learned recently that humming helps a lot!

Check out these websites for more information, or e-mail me:

    singingsuccessonline.com

    singingvoicelessons.com

    expertvillage.com/voice-lessons

Always remember to warm up properly 5-10 minutes before singing. Drink lots of water periodically and keep good posture so air can flow through your body and help you sustain stronger notes. Stretch your arms and neck to release tension in your upper body when warmin up. Rest your voice for a few days when you are ill or tired. Be confident and have fun! Best of luck!

princessaurora129@yahoo.comOk I need help, I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to improve your singing voice?
The problem is that you might not have perfect pitch. If you have problems staying in the right key throughout the song and your voice is meandering all over the place, then you aren't a natural. You might not have a musical ear. You might have a nice tone to your voice but you have problems hitting the exact notes at all times. Some people are born with it and some people aren't. The reason why you might have problems controlling your voice is because at some point throughout the song you are forgetting which key the song is in or you are having problems maintaining a consistent pitch. That is why it is extremely important to listen to the background music at all times if you do not have perfect pitch. I can hear a song once and ten years later I can sing it in the exact key without hearing the music. I can sing it acapella. Then I play the music and see if I was in the right key and I always am. It is just something I am born with. It helps me in my guitar playing too. Contrary to popular belief, there is not a lot you can do to improve on your pitch.
If you've had vocal lessons and you've NOT learned HOW to sing properly, you need to go to a better instructor.

Vocal lessons are all about learning how to sing properly... diction, support.

That's my advice... I'm a vocal coach - amongst other musical things.
Sounds like you have problems with your breathing. I find swimming helps greatly as it teaches you to control your breath. Good luck and when you get a minute record yourself so we can hear you and judge better, perhaps. Youtube sounds like a great place for feedback
    constant practice

Can you give me advice on what to tell my Insurance agent about my accident?

I was in a collision - I was making a left turn ( almost completed) and a guy in a work truck hit me.

I have a police report- and I'm sure my agent already has that so- what does she need to talk to me about?

They make their decision of who was at fault from the info on the police report don’t they?

I think that the guy who hit me was waiting to make a left turn ( facing north- I was facing south ) and he changed his mind because the car in front of him was taking too long- I think he got impatient and decided to go forward through the light and then he hit me- that - or he was speeding. I didn’t tell the officer because I was so upset. And I know after you give a statement you cant revise it.

Should I tell my agent this? If I do should I word it as a fact “ he changed lanes and hit me - he was speeding too.” or- should I say “ I think…he was changing lanes and…”

Does this matter? Is it like talking to a lawyer- do I need to be careful with my words? Is there anyway I can get this in my favor? I was calm and cooperative and I had all my information. He Didn’t have a license and after he hit me- I thought he was going to take off- he slowed his car down and peeked out the window and when I made eye contact he drove a little faster. Should I tell my agent this?

Any advice is appreciated. Can you give me advice on what to tell my Insurance agent about my accident?
    READ THIS.

dhfman999 is 100% wrong. the police report has no bearing on liability for an accident. it is your adjuster's decision to make (or the court's, if it gets that far), and the only way a police report can affect his decision is if it shows irrefutable proof (usually via a third, unrelated party) that the accident is your fault.

beyond that, what everyone else has said is true. just tell the truth, and don't try to convince the adjuster that you're right. just present the facts of the accident as you see them, and if the accident happened in the way you see it, your adjuster will believe you and find in your favor. remember that it is an adjuster's job to protect you, so as long as you are truthful and the loss really isn't your fault, he has no reason to believe the other party over you.Can you give me advice on what to tell my Insurance agent about my accident?
    just tell the truth
    Just tell the truth
HOpefully you have an agent that you can talk to and ask why they need more info. I would think they want to see if your story stays the same. I think though that you could let him know that after you were calmer and thought more about what happened, you remembered other things. I would also think it would be better to say, ';it seemed like'; or ';he appeared to'; when talking about the speeding and lane changing if you're not sure.

Hope it works out ok for you.
I always say honesty is the best policy.
The police report is usually the final word on fault, not at fault. If a witness can make you not at fault, they must tell the cops. The insurance people don't care about anything but the official report.
well just tell the truth it will help u in the long run it always helps thats all i can say was it your fault?
Just answer all question true. You can tell him that he wanted to run , but he didn't, just be truth full sweetie
Reguardless if they have a police report on the accident and they are clamining that the other driver is at fault. They do a recoded statement for both you and the other driver and issue a claim. They will not let you get a rental car or start giving money for repairs until both of you have reported it!!!

Tell them exactly what you told us and you are fine.

I just had this happen to me on my Mazda 3 it was a 2006. I had it for 3 months and this kid totaled it by running into me. They wonldn't let the repairs start until they heard from him....

    You will be fine relax!
mizred is right tell the truth. I'm sure it's the job of the agent to talk to you about what happened. You know procedure.
Definitely tell the truth as you perceived it. As for choosing your words carefully, if you say you knew for a 'fact' that he changed his mind that would say you sort of knew what was coming and were not driving defensively. Just tell it as you did above, sounds honest. I think they go by police reports anyway, because two individuals could go back and forth all day laying accusations. Its he said/she said.

Does anyone have any advice on the best type of acne treatment?

For years, I have been dealing with moderate acne, but lately, it's been more than moderate and I can't seem to calm it down at all. It seems to be getting worse. I've had chemical peels in the past and they don't work too well for me. I know there are no quick fixes, but I'm going to a wedding in a month and I want my skin clearer by then. Can anyone help?Does anyone have any advice on the best type of acne treatment?
I could finally find a solution for this problem, read this blog before taking any action

    http://acneargh.wordpress.com/

Thanks to this blog, it helped me a lot to find the best method.

Hope this helpsDoes anyone have any advice on the best type of acne treatment?
Clean%26amp;Clear is in my opinion one of the best brands for acne treatment - just have a look - it really worked for me.
I had the same problem. There is a lot of junk out there - but I found this stuff that got rid of my

acne in 3 days..... Here is the review I found on it..

    webreviewpanel.com/index.php?id=75
DO NOT USE PROACTIV. I used it and it made my skin really shiny and flakey and once I stopped using it, it messed up my skin worse then ever.

DON'T GO TO A DERMATOLOGIST. DON'T USE ANY ACNE CREAMS. USE PERFECT SKIN BY GENUINE HEALTH. you can get it from a health food store or vitamin store. it's only about 22$ and it lasts you a month. IT WORKS. I used to have the worst acne ever. I tried everything. Some days I didn't even want to leave my house. I started using Perfect Skin (which contains things that are naturally good for your skin like fish oil, vitamin e, zinc, green tea extract ect.) for almost a year now, and my acne has been gone for months!

You have to use it consistantly. YOU CAN NOT MISS A SINGLE DAY. It will take about 2 months til it actually makes a difference which seems long, but it IS worth it. I never get pimples anymore.

these things are also good for your overall health too so don't worry about the time it takes.

don't use any acne creams or cleansers. Use things with little ingredients. Try something that's organic and fragrance/dye free. You can also use Dove sensative lotion (dye/fragrance free) and Olay cleanser with aloe (also dye and fragrance free). That's what I use. Trust me, it has little to do with creams and cleansers. It's what your body is like on the inside and adding things like fragrance and dye will only make it worse.

    I hope this helped.
I've been in that situation and there is really nothing you can do about it. There are things you can do to try to reduce the blemishes and get rid of acne temporarily but you will always be finding yourself cleaning your face or your body depending on where it's at.

I mean of course your acne should go away eventually but for some this is the case their whole life.

I'm 29 years old and have been suffering from these little pests since I was a teenager. I tried all sorts of face washes from the local grocery store and what not, but nothing seemed to work. If anything it would just make my skin dry and itchy.

Literally the best acne face wash I've ever used has been this stuff called clearpores. It has got rid of the acne to quickest and has been a success ever since I got it. It's unique cause of it's herbal supplement you take a long with it that helps your skin from the inside out. I saved money on it at skincleansingsystem.com at the time which was helpful.

You should really look into this stuff and if you can to assure the best results, get the 3 month supply because if it doesn't work it will still save you butt on the return policy.

Well good luck and best wishes.
    me 2!!

i use proactive and i think it is pretty amazing.

I am trying to make some homemade jelly and need some advice from someone who has done this before...?

my grammy and i used to do this together and now i am trying to carry the tradition with my niece..

    i got juices that said ';unsweetened'; and another said ';no sugar added';

do I need to still add the sugar to the recipe for the no sugar added juices?

and do you have any tips to help with my lil adventure.. i have no memory of how to do this and just going by the packaging and would really like to get some expert advice.

thanks in advanced.I am trying to make some homemade jelly and need some advice from someone who has done this before...?
    try these sites:

    http://hgic.clemson.edu/factsheets/HGIC3鈥?/a>

    http://www.uga.edu/nchfp/how/can7_jam_je鈥?/a>

    http://www.extension.umn.edu/distributio鈥?/a>

These will provide plenty of information on jelly making. I used to make it with my mom, it's great you want to revive this tradition, your niece will treasure the time spent with you.I am trying to make some homemade jelly and need some advice from someone who has done this before...?
Hi there, it's always nice to continue a family tradition like this, since most of the people have already forgotten how.

I think no sugar added juice will still have some sweetness due to the nature of the fruits. But if any of your nieces have a sweet tooth, than you'd better add in some sugar.

The general process is just to simmer the juice (not boil!) until it's nice and hot, then add in gelatin powder. Usually there's direction on the package about the ratio of water to gelatin. After the gelatin is completely dissolved, pour into container and chill.

Tips, if you feel that your jelly is too liquid like, or won't solidify, just reheat and melt the jelly, and add in more gelatin. Then re-cool it. Works every time, it won't affect the flavors and stuff.

    Cheers~
You will probably be using pectin to make the jelly set. It tells you how to make jams and jellies on the instruction sheet in the box. But I am pretty sure you will need to add sugar of your own to it. I know when I made it I did. And I just used the juice from fresh berries. Juice is juice.
I wouldn't add sugar if the person is diabetic, but for anyone else add sugar.
Are you using certo or suregel?

    Years ago I used jello.

If certo or suregel, go by the directions that come with it.

Are you making jarred shelf jelly or freezer jelly?

I now make the freezer kind, alot simpler, %26amp; really good taste.

Jelly is sweet, so yes, I would say to add sugar.
    (((Little Sister)))

    *edit *

never mind her answer is gone..but so is her profile darn it she was gonna get it from me

    .

I think you still have to add the sugar.

hope someone who know s for sure answers this
I have never made jelly from bottled juice before; only fresh fruit so did a search to see what I could find to help you. Wow! University of Minnesota Extension has all the information any of us could want!

    http://www.extension.umn.edu/distributio鈥?/a>

Have fun making some great memories!
when you buy the surejel to make the jelly with, the package insert is full of information, recipes, tips and hints for sucess.
Did you get the pectin? That's what will make it jell...... There should be a little pamplet with different types of jelly recipes in there. Different fruits require different quantities of things ... and citric acid in some fruits may affect jelling... (Pectin may be hard to find, but it's usually near the canning/mason jars in the grocery store - you just have to hunt for it:)
My aunt used to make jelly and she would go by how sweet the juices were. She would only add sugar if there was a tart taste.

Nice. Make an account for 100 points. Make a question = 95 points. And now you have 96 for giving me a thumbs down. Way to go, genius.I like a girl who is overseas How should i persuade her to marry me?what r girls liking, pls advice urgent?
ask her: will you marry me? i love you!?????????????????????? or travel there and do it.. lol
You said you have not had any communication with her and you obviously have never been with her?? So how do you have a love so deep that you want to marry her? And I don't know why you would be worried that someone else may approach her. If she is in Love with you, she will not want to marry anyone else. This is confusing to me, unless it is like an arranged thing so someone can get there citizenship! xox

  • Can any felons give me advice on how to win against cops in court?

I havent been to prison but I hear it is essentially a university for criminals. So I am wondering if anyone can give me any input on winning against cops in court? ThanksCan any felons give me advice on how to win against cops in court?
';A University for criminals';, that is funny. I get what your implying, but it's not accurate. I've been to prison and the first rule of thumb is don't trust the advice a convict gives you; use your own judgment.

I realize that I have just erased any credibility that my next advice will be. But take it in to the context that one is typically sincere in such cases:

    GET AN ATTORNEY.

Don't ask criminals for legal advice, they are generally bitter and do passive aggressive things as a result to their bitterness. Things such as give wholly bad advice. You've heard the term that ';Misery loves company';, I'm sure. Well, that's not the whole truth. Miserable people love miserable company and they want everyone to be in their company.

dprambru makes an accurate point: prisons are full of losers. They didn't win their cases. Most of them don't want you to either. Get a lawyer, don't try to defend yourself either; the system gets bitter when you do this. Can any felons give me advice on how to win against cops in court?
No..prison might be a stepping stone for the criminal if he uses what he hears from other inmates stories to further their criminal profession but no...all inmates don't go to legal studies nor even understand the laws as a attorney would...some are affluent in the law and work in the prison's law libraries but the vast majority wouldn't be there if they knew the laws and how to manipulate them.

Second, you don't state in your question just what is against you in court..what charges and the particulars!
Shove a candy bar down your pants, and when in court reach down your pants, pull it out and take a bite out of it.

    Say you're crazy.
If you're looking for advice from felons...good luck. Felons are the guys that were convicted. You would think if they knew how to win against ';the system'; then they wouldn't BE felons. Just my 2 cents.
generic advice concerning all sorts of testimony in all sorts of cases? No. There is no one-size-fits-all defense.
    Ummm,

By definition, felons didn't win. Why ask them how?
sure we have prisons full of them lol seek real legal advice
You don't need felons...you need attorneys
    Hire a lawyer

My cat has a supposedly incurable viral upper respiratory infection in nose - any advice for cure or relief

My cat has mucus build up in nose, and sneezes alot. Vet said this was in incurable viral infection. Any info on cure or relief for cat.My cat has a supposedly incurable viral upper respiratory infection in nose - any advice for cure or relief
Incurable respiratory infection? Very odd for a veterinarian to say that...what's the full story?

The cat should have at least been put on antibiotics--I think you definitely need to get him to another vet ASAP to be checked out. Are you sure the vet didn't say that the infection was secondary to Feline Leukemia? The Leukemia IS incurable, but the respiratory infection should be able to be managed.

Cats in later stages of FIV, which is also incurable, can also have chronic respiratory infections. (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus.) But, 9 times out of 10 if the cat is not in critical condition the vet will try to control the infection to make the animal more comfortable. My cat has a supposedly incurable viral upper respiratory infection in nose - any advice for cure or relief
    Like a Dr.....ask for a 2nd, 3rd opinion form other Vets.
Well if your kitty is congested it helps to have a humidifier or take kitty into the bathroom and run a hot shower to steam up the room, that helps a bit to ease the congestion. Also be careful, cats are one of the few animals that will stop eating if they can not smell their food. If your cat stops eating then definitely go back to the vet.

    Best of luck!!!!
Why don't you ask your vet...
if he will tolerate it try a saline nose solution- try to keep the poor thing hydrated- ask the vet about giving him over the counter pain meds- I was miserable with an uri last year and this is what I was told - ended up on an iv - don't know if they can do the same for your cat but best whishes to you both , also the kitty really does feel miserable so be patient with him ps. did the vet say incurable or untreatable , b/c the doc. could not prescibe me anything to mkae me better but I did get better , took about a week

What should i do any advice please about not wanting to date an obese girl?

There is this girl who is my colleague at the place i work and she kind of have a crush on me,always pushing me to go on a date with her but the problem is she is 275 lbs,5'8 ( very average looking ) and i m 170 lbs,5'11.

I just don't want make a fool out of myself by going out and to have sex with her

what should i doWhat should i do any advice please about not wanting to date an obese girl?
Tell her to back off fattyWhat should i do any advice please about not wanting to date an obese girl?
Going out with her wouldn't make a fool out of you. Saying something as ridiculously shallow and immature as what you have jsut said? Yeah, you went above and BEYOND making a fool of yourself. Good job!

Tell her you don't date co-workers that it makes it too hard at work. Especially if you end up on not so good terms. It is a good policy not to bring romance into the workplace. Now if you have already dated someone you work with and she knows it, then just say how that changed things for you and you no longer do it. Now I still wonder why you say you will have to have sex with her?? Also do you like her? If so then don't let the weight issue stand in the way. I never thought I'd date someone who is on the heavy side. But I did and guess what he is the best thing that has ever happened to me and we have been seeing each other almost 2 years!
If you aren''t attracted, that is a valid reason to say ';No';.

If she is pestering you to ';date'; ask her to stop and inform her that it is sexual harassment and you will report her if she continues. That should take care of it. However, if it doesn't, you will need proof to take to your manager, dates and times and when you asked her to stop should be sufficient.
first how would you be making a fool out of your self by dating a larger girl? everyone deserves the chance to date and you should not care what others think about it.If you don't like her in that way then tell her. Also where does the sex thing fit in has she asked you for sex? if not then why are you worried at all just get to know her explain your not interested in dating her but just be friends.
    I know this will be really hard to say to her, but say the truth it'll help her in the long run, '; I'm not attracted to you, I'm sorry.'; ';some kinda chemistry needs to be there';

and if she really wants to be with you or someone like you someday she'll loose the weight out of concern of further rejections she'll get in the future if she doesn't Or she'll lower her standards, but she does't know that, maybe she had adults her whole life build her up with high self esteem or she thinks she's so beautiful on the inside that's her selling point but she won't know until someone **tells her, I'm just not attracted to you will she lower it. there's a perfect guy out there for her somewhere.

send her my way I have a guy friend that's hung up on me but should be going for heavier as he is and younger near his age more.... and eventually I had to get the truth to him.... and the next month I finally saw him, bumping accidentally into each other at the same resturant....on a few dates. with girls he actually looked cute with, and they looked like a couple and he looked happier.

So don't worry she will move on.
What do you mean what should you do?!!? Be a man! That's what you should do. If you don't like her and don't want to go out with her then stand your ground. Let her know that she's not your type and you're not interested. Don't be bullied or cajoled into dating a girl you're not attracted to. In the long run you would probably never get rid of her if you do go out with her. You want to be haunted by her and possibly stalked then go out with her. If not then again, BE A MAN! Trust. ';-()
you just have to tell her

i am not interested in you that waay.

don't go out with her if you don't actually like her

don't be rude or mean just tell her you would like her to stop asking you about that and you're not interested.

ha i hope that works (:
When she asks you say you don't think its appropriate for the two of you to be dating when you are co-workers.

    It may work.

And if you really do have to go on a date with her, don't have sex.
Tell her that you'd date her if she loses weight, and mabye say you'll work out with her?? I'm 5'8 and only 125 lbs. Just because you date someone or what not, does not mean you have to have sex.

    Remember that.
Tell her you have had a crush on someone else that you are interested in; If you feel like you need an excuse. She doesn't need to know who. Or tell her she's not your cup of tea.
gently %26amp; very nicely turn her down. Don't tell her its b/c of her, your just not looking for anything right now.

this sounds shallow, but wheres the fun if your not physically attracted to your partner?
Stop being a bigot. When you judge people by their looks and not their character you deserve a beautiful empty headed slut as a mate.
if you like her and think she is attractive then why not? obese people are people too.its not like your going out with a circus clown...no offense to the circus clowns out there.
She could be a very nice person, but it's understandable that you're not attracted to her because of her weight. Tell her politely that you're seeing someone. Good Luck!
    well if you don't like her, then just say no. lol. no one is forcing you to ';go on a date with her'; or ';have sex with her';
Tell her you have a girlfriend. Or tell her the truth that you are a selfish person that only cares what others think.
Tell her you don't think people who work together should date.
don't have sex with her and don't be shallow dude
Just be honest and tell her you're not interested.
Just flat-out tell her that you are not interested in her and/or that she's not your style.
just dont have sex with her and it will be ok
Just let her see this question then all your problems will be resolved
Just tell her your not interested.. or your not looking for a relationship right now.
why is it necessary for u two to have sex??
dont ******* go out with her. its simple.
mmm...dont tell the truth...yet...maybe ttha tu allreday have a girlfriend...

    something like that...

Why do people give you advice they do not follow?

My friend does not want to me to get into drugs yet she still does drugs now. Wtf?Why do people give you advice they do not follow?
She's just looking out for you.

Hopefully it is because she knows that she has made a few bad choices, and she doesn't want you to end up in her situation.

    Heed her advice.

Please, from a formal drug addict, and a successfully rehabilitated addict, please, stay away from drugs. Why do people give you advice they do not follow?
yep , you should listen to her. Its not like its easy to quit once you start. Its like a smoker telling you not to smoke.

besides your better off not doing them. If you wanted to marry a rich doctor or decent person that comes from a respectable family, you better think twice because any respectable family will not except a druggie into their family.
Because she know's she screwed up bad and she does not want you to follow dow nthe same path she see's potential in you and does not want you to throw it away. Why don't you help her and get help
It's the very definition of ';Hypocrite';....

Though, maybe in your case your friend is just trying to steer you away from a life of misery (drugs).

Would she be a better friend to you if she gave you drugs? Somehow, I think not.....
She knows she made a mistake and is now trapped, and is trying to save you from going through the same pain she has gone through. It is possible to know what the right choice is, even if you can't act on it.
I don't know why people do that. People are always doing the same to me and not following their own advice. I really hate that.
Hmmm. Lots of people do that. Who knows? Maybe because it's easy to give out advice and not reflect upon your own problems? Just rambling here.
She knows what drugs can do and cares about you so she doesn't want you to get into a bad lifestyle.
Like black people? They say dont be racist and dont generalize but they do the same against whites.
Maybe your friend is hooked, and can't just quit. She doesn't want that to happen to you.
She knows you're better than her.

  • Can anybody give me some advice on a good wireless router?

I had a netgear brand router and it seemed to slow my internet connection A LOT. I have cable internet with Bresnan and I use the router for wireless internet on my laptop. Can anybody give me some advice on a good wireless router?
If you have a broadband internet connection, it's faster than an 802.11g. The ';g'; goes up to about 540 kilobits. There is a newer draft spec, called 802.11n, that can go up to 5 megabits. Those routers are starting to appear more often in the stores now.

If speed is crucial, you can't (currently) beat a wired connection. Can anybody give me some advice on a good wireless router?
Belkin is what I always use...the customer support for new users is amazing..if u need help setting one up.

They can get pricey...but you get what you pay for.
i have a linksys, it works great, also has easy setup!
I've used Linksys (i'm a Cisco fan, so i guess i'm being biased) and i haven't had any problems with mine.

Does anyone have some good advice for a wannabe novelist?

I've wanted to be a writer since before I can remember. I can write school papers and smaller pieces of fiction pretty well, but I need help when it comes to maintaining the drive and focus that a novel requires. I lose confidence in my projects very easily as well. Has anyone out there been in the position I'm in now, and if so, what did you do to get over this writers block?Does anyone have some good advice for a wannabe novelist?
hi, this is a common problem but you need to take time thinking of how your book will play out, even if that time extends to years. Think of every single scene, let it run in your head with every bit of dialogue, every look, every action.

It also helps if you can think of how your story will end - what will be most satisfying to you? Imagine the final scene and the last line of the book - does it feel like a good ending which has resonance with the beginning and the story and how you want the characters to be?

Taking so much time means that any story that isn't really worth writing as a whole novel will soon get boring for you to think about. Only a really good story should survive this very long and detailed process.

If it does, you will get to the point where you are absolutely itching to write it, and then when you do, it should be a very easy and pleasurable experience.

Don't be daunted by the length of a novel, just enjoy crafting each scene and take your time and the pages will soon pile up.

ONLY when you are so happy with you book that you can't wait to show it to someone should you actually let anyone else read it. Choose someone who reads a LOT of the kinds of book you have written and RESPECT their feedback. It can be very very hard to be told 'I don't like your main character', but ask why, rather than trying to convince them that they should. They may finally agree with you but it won't change the fact that your main character is not likeable!

Expect to have to make changes but also try to be objective enough to decide when you need to stick with what you know is good.

Good luck!Does anyone have some good advice for a wannabe novelist?
hally, you're not blocked. You're writing without a blueprint, leading you into unproductive or impossible story lines. World of difference.

If you want to write novels, you need to give yourself plenty of time before you begin the writing itself. You need to identify a concept, expand it into a story, or more likely several stories which weave together into a main plot and multiple subplots, create three-dimensional characters, and all that sort of organizing. This may take months.

I cannot urge strongly enough the importance of a complete and detailed master plan, scene by scene or chapter by chapter, before you even begin the writing itself.

Writing 'free' without a plan is fine for shorter works, but you can easily write half a novel which cannot possibly go anywhere near a satisfying conclusion if you don't plan that conclusion and how you'll get there.

As you write, you may get amazing ideas, better than what's in your plan. Wonderful! Revise the plan to incorporate them before you proceed.

With a plan, you can complete a novel, even writing on the days you feel uninspired, since you know exactly what needs writing.

If you want to be a writer then be prepared to read everything you can get your hands on. Take some creative writing courses. As for writer's block, get out and do something completely different such as skydiving, or something you would of never dreamed of doing by yourself. Get out of your routine and you may find yourself inspired.
Just write, write anything that comes into your head and let the story come from there. If you loose interest in the piece, then leave it alone, don't think about it and come back to it later. And don't automatically assume that when you start a project that you will fail. Be optomistic!!!
    Too many times...

Put your work to the side for a bit and go back when you feel like it. Recollect all of your thoughts and know where you're going with everything.. Then take a walk along a beautiful place that you enjoy. Mine's a woodland path with trees and fields
    Write a book.
=D your exactly like me =P

Well anyways... What I am doing (because I'm still working on it) is I have gotten a notebook (5 subject) that I only use for writing.

The first section is my main novel that I am working on and the notes I have taken on it. The characters, Story line, plot, pictures of characters, ext, and I have found it very well at keeping me working on just one and having it all planned out so I don't lose my confidence.

The second section is where I try to rough draft it (but I usually end up typing it instead but it does help when I am away from my comp and I get inspiration).

The third section: Is where I put any other story ideas I get. I don't want to get distracted from my main one so I write it there so when I finish my novel I can work on that.

The 4th section: Is were I keep inspiring quotes that I have found and small things that involve the story. For example I have animals in my story so I write down some of the basic animal movements and meaning to them. It also has magic and legends so I write those down so If I need one later I don't need to wait my time re goggling it. (I also find that it helps if you built and label what type of things are on the page.)

The fifth section is for anything extra you may need. For me during school I always ran out of papers or lost them so I kept many of my notes there so they wouldn't get lost.

Also remember to only write about things you like because if you don't fully love what you are writing. No one else will.

If you do get writers block just remember why you are writing the book in the first place. Is it to tell the world something? To speak your mind? Show something the way you see it?

With a note book it may help prevent writers block (it does for me) because i never forget what I planed to write. Or if you are just thinking of a plot sit outside or something and day dream. One may come to you =D

    Good luck =D

Can someone give me some advice on photo etching?

Can anyone tell me what would be the best way to do this and where I can get advice on getting started?

    Thanks!

Check out the Maplin catalogue or failing that http://rswww.comCan someone give me some advice on photo etching?
what do you mean etch photos on to metal. you will need to use a negative photo. copper is the norm for etching but it isn't resistant to wear and tear it scratches very easily and because it is copper it is soft so it will wear. if it was you and you haven't done it before i would get some scratch boards were they are black and you draw on them as you scratch the black away you reveal the white below. this boarding was popular a few years back you might have to look on the Internet for art suppliers

I am taking my dog camping for the first time any advice?

I have a doberman (hes 3 years old) we've never takin him camping with us. Does anyone have any tips?I am taking my dog camping for the first time any advice?
Just keep him on a leash I don't let my dog drink from the lake just in case of parvo. and I check him for ticks just like we do for the kids and ourselves. And I also bring there food, water bowls and there beds or pillows, and because my dogs are small I bring there sweaters also. Hope you have fun with your friends.I am taking my dog camping for the first time any advice?
Pay attention to the rules about pets wherever you are camping. Most campgrounds require that dogs be kept leashed or kenneled.

Don't let him bark constantly. There will probably be other people around who won't appreciate that at all.

Be careful about kids running up to ';pet the doggie';.

If you are going where there is a lot of wildlife, never let him off the leash. As it was explained to me in Yellowstone, a dog will run off down a trail, start barking at something really big and wild, decide he can't handle it, and lead it straight back to you!
I take a leash, tie out, dog bowls, dog food, water, flea spray (my dog is also on Frontline, but it doesn't hurt to have the spray on hand), and a dog bed. I throw the dog bed in the tent and that's where she sleeps. Also, I try to remember to bring her rawhide bone to chew on to keep her occupied. I tend to forget it and then she likes to find things to get into.
When I go camping with my dogs I bring

    -Water

-Enough food, or a little extra for the stay

-Normal lead and backup lead in case something happens to the first

    - Is your dog going in water? if so a towel is always good.

    -Toys

    - Dog bed

    -Treats

    - Dog coat if it is cold

    - First aid kits are good as well as a book on dog health/ illness emergency's.

    I think that's about it.
First off take your own water if you can. Some dogs just do better on their own routine, Make sure you use your own food also. Don't go out and buy another brand. Have your vets number with you, and if you are going a distance get a local vet number and call them and ask if they are available 24 hours, and if they are seeing new patients. That is a must...dogs tend to get into things they are not suppose to. Take his leashes and bowls...and a tie out, only if you are with him...do not leave him tied out..while you are off swimming or anything. Campgrounds have rules about dogs...so make he does not run loose. Also take a first aid kit for dogs to...they are not expensive and you can get on at your local pet store. Have his identification tags on him to just in case he might get lost with your phone number, vet.

Have a great time with your dog and hope this helps.
Bring twice as much water as you think you will need. Forget that if you are camping near water. If he is sleeping in a tent with you that should be it. Otherwise a stake-out would be a good idea so he doesn't run off chasing something in the middle of the night.
Some sort of tick and flea protection, make sure his shots are up to date and follow the leach laws were you are staying.

Use Clearasil's Ultra鈩?Rapid Action Treatment Cream tor shrink your acne to a small size it takes 4 hours to work then after that use StayClear庐 Daily Face Wash after a few days the places your is scared will feal flaky like you could peel they off use a stick of Cocoa Butter for them apply it every 3 hours and a few days after when your useing it the darkskin will rub off on the to the Cocoa Butter and the new skin will be under it if this doesnt work see a doctor
Try getting rid of acne holistically. I have had acne ever since middle school, I had tried anything and everything that had promised to clear my skin, obviously none of the ';products'; worked. This e-book talks about how diet and exercise is an important part of getting rid of acne. It will focus on the important aspects of getting rid of acne and will benefit you in the long run. A baking soda mask. I've read reviews on it, and people say that after a few uses, acne scars begin to go away.

You can look at reviews on baking soda masks on acne.org

To make a baking soda mask, pour a tablespoon or two of baking soda into a cup, mix it with a good amount of water, then put the mixture onto ur face for about five minutes before washing it away.

Hi im a nurse and i ll try to help. The pharmacist would advise staff to keep meds under lock and key at times outwith drug rounds. The bottles, boxes and cartons should be clearly marked with patients name and instructions clearly labelled. Each pt should have their own area or shelf in the trolley for speed and less confusion. For monitoring, all nursing homes would have a system usually called a kardex for documenting where each pt has their own pages with meds printed on it and spaces for the nurse to sign.

Class A or controlled drugs are different, they are not kept on the trolley but always locked in a cabinet. These are checked daily by two registered nurses and amounts verified. If they need to be used then this process is the same, two nurses, two signatures. Hope this helps, Good Luck. What advise would a pharmacist advice to care homes regarding the storage and monitoring of drugs ?
The home where my aunt was had photos of every resident with their med record on the med cart.

My story comes from a life style of unhealthy parents and poor example - to being married to a man who can't gain weight if he wanted to! You can read my story at the link below.

What, how often and stopping before you are full is key. Also, what foods you eat in combination with each other. This diet is easy to follow, simple to do, perfect for on the go or taking it with you, and you'll see very quick results. Once you do it, you have it for life! It's that wonderful.
Here's a good resource that helped me.. It gave me a full workout and healthy eating guidance and showed me what I was doing wrong before... it does cost money, but its a drop in the ocean if u ask me... goodluck

Forget the suppliments, they aren't going to do it! You need to choose healthy foods and you wont feel hungry anymore.

Have you ever taken Intro to Financial Accounting? How difficult is this class? Advice to succeed?

I am a senior, Major in Philosophy minor in Business Administration, and Intro to Financial Accounting as well as Business Finance are requirements for the major.

Any tips on how to succeed in Accounting, how difficult is the class, and whats the difference between Business Fiannce and Financial Accounting?

Thanks so much for the input.Have you ever taken Intro to Financial Accounting? How difficult is this class? Advice to succeed?
Alright, I have taken Financial Accounting.

I'm not sure exactly what the difernece is between Bus. and Fin. I think it could be the level (Bus harder) and the fact that you're doing finaces from a basic consumer point of view. While the business is from a Bus. point of view.

    Tips!!!

    1) Get to know your calculator. All the formulas you need are in your menu in your TI-83 or 84.

    2) Do your homework. If you get behind on your homework it's harder. Also, the homework is great prep and help for your exams. If you haven't done examples then you'll do bad on exam.

    3) Go to tutoring. I went and it helped!

    4) Know what's happening and why. Sure, you know the numbers but, you HAVE TO understand the logics behind the math. Know the accounting point of view.

    5) Sit next to people who know what they're doing...ask the professor questions. I talked in class to the people next to me about what was going on. That helped me because step-by-step I could ask questions about what happened and why the prof did that.

    So, good luck!

ps. Business Finance I believe you do the Balance Sheet and Income statements and balancing for the whole business and expenses.

What is a good first, a shotgun or a pistol. Give me your advice and your choices of your choice?

I want to buy a pistol or a shotgun. I don't know which to buy. What would you choose and why?? Of your choice, what models would you choose. I'd like to keep the cost down to about 500-700 dollars. What is a good first, a shotgun or a pistol. Give me your advice and your choices of your choice?
Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 Magnum single-action revolver, 7 1/2 inch barrel. Handles nice, very accurate. This is a 44 mag that a new user can get onto real quick....use half-jacket hollow-points for ammo. What is a good first, a shotgun or a pistol. Give me your advice and your choices of your choice?
You have already been given several good answers. I would like to suggest joining a shooting club. The ones here usually let you borrow a gun for shooting. This allows you to taste before you buy. They also offer shooting/safety tips.

For $700, you could buy a Beretta 22LR pistol ($250), a Rugar 10/22 w/scope ($300), and a Mossberg 12guage ($160). All of these are good guns to learn with and enjoy.
    Uh........... Purpose????

Both go bang, but have a different roles and styles. By default I'd say the pistol due to the ability to practice at indoor ranges. Models are too numerous to list.
    S%26amp;W 9VE...9mm pistol around 330 - 410 brand new.

I bought one about 6 months ago.....damn nice shooting weapon.
Buy both. But if you have to choose, go with the shotgun. There is more activities you can do with it such as trap and skeet. Remington 1100 or 1187 is always a good bet. That is the same gun, just different chamber sizes. But you can't go wrong with any Browning or Beretta.
In your price range, you can buy a nice pistol or a very nice shotgun.

I bought a pistol first. It's just more fun to shoot, for a longer period of time. It's not like you're going to miss anything with a shotgun.

In your price range, you might want to check into a Kimber Custom II. I have a slightly upgraded model of that and it's the most fun firearm I own.
A good first shotgun would be the 410 guage or the 20 guage they both produce very little recoil a pistol on the other hand i would recommend a 22 caliber they are very cheap to shoot I would recommend eather one
    Glock 17
For $5-700, you could get both a Mossberg 500, ($200) and a used Beretta 92. ($300-500) I suggest that you just buy a Ruger Mark II .22 pistol for about $300, a bunch of ammo, and some instruction from a qualified trainer.
I would buy a new shot gun. You can buy a Mossburg 500 for less than $500, a slug barrel for it around $200. I would not listen to the suggestions on buying a used $200 gun. You may get lucky but usually are buying someone';s problem. It don't sound that you are experienced to know what you are looking at as far as used. Buy new.
a shotgun is probably best choice you can use for hunting

    or protect.

    ask a the same question/

i think angel gave good answer,

    here some slections

    remington 870===$250

    wingmster==$600

    mossberg500 ====$200
Derpending on where you live, get both.

Remington Express in 12 ga. or 20 ga.

A good .22 pistol, Browning, Ruger, Walther, etc.

Getting both should keep you in the 500-700 range.
shot guning is more fun .a remington 11-87 is a good one
If you're new to the shooting sports, your first firearm should be neither. Everybody should start with a rifle chambered for 22 LR. The little rimfire's fun, cheap and easy to shoot, and it's a great way to learn good habits.

Next, unless there's a serious immediate need for you to go armed all day every day, I'd suggest a shotgun, but not knowing you or what you intend to do with it makes it hard to give good advice. I've been hunting with side-by-sides for the better part of a half century, but that may not suit your purposes well. Rather than a specific model or brand, though, the fit is more important. If the length of pull, drop and cast of the stock are right for you, you'll have a lot better time of it.
It really depends on what you want to use the gun for.

If you havent ever shot a gun before get a rifle first or borrow one from someone and check it out.

Most states if not every state require pistol permits, your talking major bucks for that and your limited with what you can hunt if you plan on hunting with it.

A shot-gun is pretty universal, dear season, turkey season, etc.... But like I said it depends on what you want the gun for.
for home defense %26amp; target shooting

    shotgun= mossberg model 870

    pistol= any 1911 type .45
    you should get shotgun
I agree with the person who mentioned the .22 rimfire rifle . It's a great cartridge; very inexpencive, low recoil and lower noise, and still a whole lot of fun. It also helps to prepare you for other larger 'calibers'. You can also purchase a pistol in this caliber, which you can shoot at pop cans or candy or whatever, at most shooting ranges. The .22 pistol is also a lot less intimidating than virtually all other pistol calibers interms of recoil and noise, and a flame shooting out the end of your barrel can be quite intimidating to a first time shooter. So seriously consider a .22, the ammo is pennies a round and the gun itself is cheaper than other calibers too.
As others have mentioned, FIRST you should take a basic firearms safety course if you haven't already. A local gun shop or police department could give you information on this. As for a firearm recommendation it all depends on what you have intended for it. For home protection I would recommend a Smith %26amp; Wesson .357 magnum revolver. It has enough stopping power, they don't have a slide to jam, very simple to operate, easy to tell if it's loaded or empty, and the recoil is tolerable. Also I would go with frangible ammunition if you live in a condo or apartment, as you don't want any stray bullets traveling through a shared wall an hitting an innocent person. Pistols (automatics; i.e. Sigarms, Glock, Springfield) are fine, but a bit more complicated for a beginner. Shotguns are a bit unwieldy inside a home even with a short barrel, so I would avoid this as a home protection weapon unless specifically trained.
    Pistol -- Glock 22 --40 S%26amp;W or Glock 17 --9 mm.

2nd Choice:: SPRINGFIELD XD PISTOL (any model)

    Very High reliability and accuracy.

Shoots any brand ammo of correct caliber.

    Great carry piece.

Go to your local GUN RANGE and rent one before you buy.

Ammo is popular and available. 9mm is cheap price.

40 S%26amp;W is used by our Police Department.

    Springfield XDs have lifetime warranty.

Springfield XDs have trigger and grip safeties.

Springfield XDs have visual indicators for firing pin and bullet chamber.

Either can be found brand new for less than $500.

You can find new Mossberg shotguns for $155.00 at Walmart.

Buy your pistol first then take a training class on firearm handling.

Then enjoy your new addition! :)

Where do you go for advice on your puppy/dog?

When something concerns you, like food issues, health issues, or behavior issues, who do you turn to? What about something ';small'; like when and how many treats, or what is the best dog shampoo? Do you always turn to the same person/people? Or are there different places for different types of questions?Where do you go for advice on your puppy/dog?
I have a network of breeders, vets, trainers and groomers, plus some people that are active in rescue, so I have lots of resources if I have a problem.Where do you go for advice on your puppy/dog?
Since I've been breeding Chihuahuas for quite a while and own ten of my own now, I already know alot of these things through experience, research, and my vet. My vet and I have become very close friends, since she's been caring for all my dogs. If I don't know the answer to certain things, then I discuss it with her!
Medical issues I talk to my vet. If that doesnt sit right with me I get a second opinion. I have several friends that have MUCH more experience than I do. I will talk to them, ask questions (I dont care if I sound stupid or not. After all this is about what's best for my dogs, right?) I read, look things up on the computer and see what's available. I dont just jump on any NEW thing. I look for advice and training from those I've learned to trust.
I go to peteducation.com when I need info health issues (like when my puppy is sick and I look up the symptoms).
i usually ask a vet, or the vet tech. small issues i ask other friends and family that i know own animals and i go by my gut instinct after that.
I get many daily emails from different groups i signed up with. Happy Healthy Dogs with Dr John, Dogster.com, ASPCA, Animal Protection Institute and for dog food I always go to the website The Dog Food Project. They are all very informative and I enjoy being a member of all of them.. They always have updates especially during the dog food crisis. I also go to an all natural pet store in my area and the owner knows so much about dogs and care. If she does not know she always has good websites.
I work in rescue so I have a very good relationship with our vet as well as other rescuers and breeders. I even have our vet's home number in case a bad case comes into resuce.

I have met so many wonderful people over the years that I now have a wonderful network of people to chat about my dogs with. I have also met some great people here!
I search on the internet a lot, but I also have sources locally to contact. Veterinarians are an excellent source of information if you have a good vet. If you ask your vet about behavior issues, food issues, health issues, etc. and they seem unwilling to talk about it unless you have a serious problem they can treat, then you have the wrong vet and need to find another.

I like watching animal planet and other shows like Cesar Milan's ';The dog whisperer'; as well. It's VERY good to watch if your dog has behavior issues. Of course, it's important to realize that you are responsible for those issues, not the dog.

I got a ';Purina puppy care'; folder containing all sorts of information when I bought my purebred chihuahua. It had a book which told you how much to feed, how to do obedience training, how to housebreak, how to play with, and how to care for a puppy. Also, if you bought your puppy from a breeder that cares enough to include such a packet, chances are they know a bit about dogs and would be willing to help with any questions or concerns as well. Mine gave me his number and told me to call if I had any problems or questions.

In order of what I feel is the best information, from best to worst places to get it:

    1. Veterinarian

    2. publications

    3. Internet searches

    4. dog breeders

    5. television

    6. other dog owners
My vet for medical things and I have two vets if i need a second opinion I will get one.

I have a good friend who is a breeder and shows dogs so if it is grooming general type thing I would ask her. She is very good at it and has many show champions so she knows her stuff.

I train but work with other trainers and we all get together and talk about some of our tougher dogs we are working with and bounce ideas off each other. It helps to have an outside opinion at times. Also you get some great tips and tricks to fix little things that you might never have thought of. Also one person I know runs a no kill shelter and she is of great help with dogs who have been in shelters and getting them to adjust to a new home.
If it medical I ask my vet. If it's something I don't understand about my breed I ask their breeder. If it's behavior then I'll ask some people who have been training dogs for a long time.

If it's something I can look up on the internet than I will do that too but not take is as the gospil.

There are some people here that I would not hesitate to e-mail and ask for an opinion.

If it's small I used my common sence! If I screw up then I have learned something and remember not to do it again.
My vet if it is a general question that I am certain he will know about.

If it is a more specific question about one certain breed or topic, I will ask for information from someone familiar with that breed or topic. I know a retired Vet who has really precise ideas about food, so I will ask her about food. If it is a dog, legal question, I will ask the code officer who comes into the clinic. I guess it just depends on the specific topic of concern.

    ----------------------------

edit-- I think you should add the detail who wouldn't you ask. Now that list would be longer.
me or the vet here are some other options

    1. other dog owners

    2.books

3.videos/television try to calm your dog and give it treats play outside with it and clean it . its behavior and health should improve
    Professional Retriever Trainers Association

    http://www.prta.net/

Also have a network of breeders.

You will find that there is a network of pros for any dog discipline.
If it's something small like shampoo or a good toy, or things like 'how to clip the dogs nails' I generally ask my boyfriends sister, she has 2 dogs. However if it's something more major and health wise, I ask my vet.
For medical advice, I ask the vet. When it comes to training and suggestions of treats to use, I talk to my training instructors and fellow members of the Obedience club. I sometimes will ask a variety of people, depending on the question as I prefer to have a few things in mind, before making a decision on what works best for me and my pet.
You have been asking great questions lately.....on a quest to educate people here. I surely hope they listen!

As I have bred, trained and shown dogs since about 1965, I know a LOT...but am smart enough to realize I do not know it all....but even better than what I know, is the fact that I know of TONS of resources to get info I want, and I am not lazy to hesitate searching the www for good sites!

BUT....I am going to try to go back in time....when I was a Novice dog person...before the www

For general info on dogs I went to the library. For medical and health I asked my vet, or called other vets.

I took dog training classes with the family mixed breed ( I was in 7th grade) from an obedience club...the members/trainers had been ';in dogs'; for decades! The most VALUABLE info I got was from these dog trainers, and my mentor, the breeder whom I got my 1st purebred from. She gave me all the info I needed when I got the pup...I could call her at any time....I went to her place later when my puppy actually grew hair and she taught me how to properly groom the dog, train the ears (it was a sheltie)...

as I got more involved, I talked to diffferent breeders, bought books, subscribed to the Sheltie magazine.....

Decades later, after I depleted my kennel, my 10 year old daughter was introduced to agility by a lady we had befriended while my daughter was doing obedience with her dog. I became infatuated with agility, and I spent 2 years taking my daughter to agility classes and trials and watching and learning. Asked questions of our friend, trainers, and others, got the rule books....subscribed to an agility magazine. Then got a pup, and began our agility journey.

    so....different people, different places
you can go to different sites on the net ,which give good info.Or you can call a vet in regards to questions such as feeding and treats shampoo, petshops ,
Depends on what it is.. I research everything to death, then I go to dog friends, if it's something I don't think is serious.. If it's something I think is a problem, then I go to the vet.
If they are health related issue I will definitely call my vet for help. But if they are something small, I would usually ask family members or co-workers that have dogs for their advise because they usually have similar experience. Or sometimes I would type in my question in search engines and see whats shows up.
For health and behavior issues, my vet. For behavior issues, my trainer.

I already have a favorite shampoo and a favorite brand of dog food. (I'm old)

I belong to several groups, so if an odd question pops up I'll post and ask and decide from the answers.

  • Can anybody give me good advice on how to get my skin looking clearer?

Try using mineral makeup- It doesnt have all the added chemicals that regular make up does. Also- go without makeup for a while. Let your skin rest. Sun tanning and even tanning beds seem to help my face clear up. Some birth control helps also (ortho-tri-sprintec is 1).Can anybody give me good advice on how to get my skin looking clearer?
your can buy over the counter ';regimen'; to clear your skin, a lot to choose from(make sure it's for your skin type)...but to help you on the long-run use sunscreen and moisturizer , especially when you are using the products(since they contain ingrediients that will make your skin sensitive to the sun) take vitamin E and C, drink lots of water and enough sleep, but if you have scars try to lighten them...don't touch your face with dirty hands, make this as a rule..smile.Can anybody give me good advice on how to get my skin looking clearer?

My 4 week old daughter tilt her head on right and she had a big tight muscle in the neck. Can someone advice?

Can it be corrected completely? What care we parents need to take? Shall I wait for a little while unless she starts holding her head by herself? My 4 week old daughter tilt her head on right and she had a big tight muscle in the neck. Can someone advice?
My oldest daughter had the same thing when she was a baby. It's muscle shortness in her neck, called torticollis. We had to have a CT scan done just to make sure there wasn't anything more serious going on. The doctor suggested therapy, which we did sign up for First Steps to come out to the house for it. They only lasted 3 sessions and I decided that I could do those things myself. You massage the neck muscles (both sides, even if the knot is only on one side). You stretch her muscles (neck, torso, legs... as these are really all connected and one could affect the other). Move her head from one side to the other slowly and hold on each side for a few seconds. When she's laying down, prop her neck to the side that she cannot turn to naturally with a blanket or pillow.

Do not wait until she can hold her head up herself! Have it checked out immediately with the doctor and possibly sign up for physical therapy right away also. It needs to be corrected before her muscles fully develop.

My daughter is 4 now and you can't even tell she had this as a baby. Good luck to you and your daughter. My 4 week old daughter tilt her head on right and she had a big tight muscle in the neck. Can someone advice?
Sounds like torticollis. Usually this is corrected with stretching and physical therapy and doesn't cause any permanant problems. I would let your doctor see this and he/she can recommend stretching and/or physical therapy, but also make sure there are no other muscular abnormalities.
Ask your HV. If it isn't bothering her it should be fine!!

Can anyone give me good advice on raising orfaned puppies?

My beagle had 5 puppies 10 days ago and died yesterday. I want to save the puppies I need good advice PLEASECan anyone give me good advice on raising orfaned puppies?
This formula is used by one of the top breeders in the country. There are many informative articles on puppy raising as well. Go here. So sorry you are having to deal with this. I wish you and the pups well.

    Bottle Feeding Recipe

    11 Calories per CC

10 oz. of canned evaporated milk or goat's milk (not pasteurized cow's milk - this will cause scowers - dogs cannot drink normal cow's milk) Goats milk is by far the best to use. Wall Mart sells it.

3 oz. sterilized water (baby water or boiled water) this is not needed if using goat's milk

    1 raw egg yolk

1 cup of whole yogurt (avoid skim or fat free if at all possible)

1/2 Tsp Karo Syrup or Corn Syrup (NOT HONEY !!!)

Place ingredients in a blender and blend or use a wire whisk. Be careful to not over blend and create a milk shake full of bubbles and then tube bubbles into the puppy.

Keep cool and discard leftovers after 7 days.

Warm formula to body temperature (dogs are around 101 degrees). Discard any un-used formula. This is a thick mixture - use a stomach tube to tube feed or enlarge the hole in the nipple for easy access for the pup.Can anyone give me good advice on raising orfaned puppies?
Your local pet supply store should have puppy milk replacer and bottles for puppies. Don't use cow's milk! You will need to feed them every few hours for a while. As they get older, when they will take it, you can start introducing solid food slowly in addition to the milk replacer. You can start with a warm rice cereal (the kind made for babies, looks like little flakes when dry, a paste when mixed with warm water), mixed with meat-flavored baby food or a good quality canned puppy food to start with. They sometimes will lick it off your fingers if they won't take it off a plate or bowl. Switch slowly then to a quality puppy canned food and kibble. I would give them a warm place to lay (use a heat pad on LOW wrapped in a blanket) and also a place to get away from the heat if they are too warm.
There are puppy bottles and puppy formula. After a while they will be able to drink their formula from bowls. Then softened puppy food will be fine.

Looking after 5 puppies will be hard, so good luck. And yes, consult a vet for the best way to go about it.
go to the vet to get them checked out and the vet can give you a packet of information on how to care for the puppies. you will have to bottle feed them, keep them warm and stimulate them to go potty. it will be like a full time job for a few weeks. if it is too much to handle you can surrender them to the humane society.
I am sorry to hear that. You can raise these pups though. Go to any local pet store and pick up canned puppy formula and nursing bottle. Offer food to the pups every 2 hours and rotate the pups. Make sure you are weighing them everyday. You will never be able to tell if they are gaining or loosing and if they are loosing weight it detrimental that that one gets fed more.

The pups are going to reject th bottle at first as they are born with sensors to know moms body heat and smell. Do not get discouraged. Wrap the pup in a warm towel and hold it the same way it would nurse off the mother. Do not hold like a baby. When finsihed eating take a warm SOFT cloth and rub in the anal area to make it go potty. A constipated pup and can die. If there is another dog around that has natural instincts you can even get them to do this. Make sure the bottle hole is just right. To small the pups gets frustrated. To large the pup will choke. When you tip it upside down over your wrist it should drip very small drops. If there is anything in the house the smells like mom rub it on the nipple of the bottle.
OK...get some replacement milk for the puppies, vet or local pet store will have it. 5 puppy bottles, and get ready for some long nights. Keep them warm, arpund 80 degrees until the thid week, and then it's 75 degrees for the 3rd and 4th week, then 70 after that, and cuddled. Add blankets and a few stuffed animals to wherever they are sleeping. Puppies are like kids...they need to be fed every 3 hours., so set your alarm. DO NOT over feed, burping is a necessity when bottle feeding. Do not put puppy on it's back when eating. Keep it laying on it's stomach, and lightly support the head under the jaw. It's a wonderful experience, and try to enjoy it. 5 puppies are a lot...try to find help. Good Luck !!! Would love to see some pics !!
I'm sorry for your loss. Call your vet, the local shelter, or a beagle rescue group. BREW comes to mind
The best suggestion would be if you could find another female that is lactating and let her be a wet nurse. Bottle and tube feeding are difficult for a novice to do well-- you run the risk of inhalation pneumonia. Maybe a local vet or breeder would know of someone?

Do you have anyone in your life who gives you unsolcited perpetually bad advice?

My eldest brother who is about 11 1/2 years older than me, when I was 10 told me if I can't beat them join them. So I ';joined'; them and made a mess of myself for a while. Now that I've turned 29 he tells me in dealing with the opposite sex to fuc them, feed them, and forget them. Somehow I feel this is probably pretty bad advice also and I didn't ask for it. Have you anyone who gives you bad advice that you didn't ask for?Do you have anyone in your life who gives you unsolcited perpetually bad advice?
My old college room-mate is a yes woman. Anything you bring up, she's like ';go for it!'; When you tell her that its prob a bad idea, she's like ';what do u have to lose';. Honestly, you would think its reverse psychology, but she lives by those rules herself. And her life is perpetually a mess. With a friend like her, I'm glad that I have a strong background, and a sound mind.Do you have anyone in your life who gives you unsolcited perpetually bad advice?

Can someone give me advice on this career I want to do?

I am 18 years of age and I have a interest in Media and Computers. I have been looking at college courses and I have fount a course called Interactive Media and basicly you work in 2D AND 3D Comumications, working in graphic design briefs, interactive media briefs, exploring and developing ideas and producing interactive media and graphical outcomes. Does anyone know if this is a good career to go into? Can someone give me advice on this career I want to do?
This isn't probably going to answer your question very well, but I don't think enough younger people realize this when choosing a career.

    Do what you enjoy doing.

If you don't, it's going to be a job. If you do something you enjoy on the other hand, stick with it, and even if it doesn't pay well at first, as you work hard and like doing it, the pay scale increases.

Then you are bringing home a check, and it's not a job, it is, something you like doing.

It sounds pretty obvious, but I think that is a problem people have today. Everyone wants to follow the money sign. Then they are stuck doing a job they hate, kissing a bosses butt they don't like, no wonder people don't stick at jobs for decades like they used to. They hate their jobs. Can someone give me advice on this career I want to do?
