I just bought a new house and need some interior decorating advice?

Im going for a Victorian/Classic look ( as opposed to contemporary)





1) Firstly, I have cherry wood floors, would it look bad if i had just the dining room walls in burgundy?


2)Would dark burgundy carpet be okay with the cherry wood floors? If not, what other dark colors would be okay?I just bought a new house and need some interior decorating advice?

Be sure you have enough light! I had a place that had dark wood paneling and even at noon you needed a light on. You might have one wall in burgundy and the others in a lighter color. Look at some of those magazines. They're actually kind of fun when you've got a house you're thinking of doing.

Get the Burgundy carpet and paint the wall a lighter beige.


That will work great together.
I would not do the burgandy for both, but one or the other would be fine.
