Can anyone give me advice on texturizing my ceiling?

i just want a fine little texture not real heavy but have not really done it before. do i put the mudmon heavy with a roller after watering it down then stomp or what? thanks for all your comments?Can anyone give me advice on texturizing my ceiling?
There is a textured spray available at most home improvement stores. It's a bit expensive, but it really makes the task easier and quicker. Basically you spray it as thick or thin as you want, then let it dry. It comes in white, if you want another color, you'll have to paint once it has thoroughly dried.

you can sponge the Mud after putting it, but I like to use the cheapo mud ( spackle) sprayer it is a pump and shoot, then wait till the mud is almost dry and hit it with a large spackle knife,
the easiest low profile texture is to go to a paint store and buy a preflattened cieling mop,mix your mud down very thin,roll it on and hit it with the mop,the trick is to roll the mud evenly so you get an even texture,this will give the star pattern i'm sure you've seen before,it can only be achieved with the preflattened mop though,not a stipplling brush.
I suggest putting the mud on and after letting it set a bit just dab at it with a sponge..works great..just experiment a bit its easy to do

Try and use a notched trowl and do the half moons over lapping each other, this is the newest technique and it looks really cool. Put the mud on thin and use a box to catch the excess mud as it drop, depending on the knoch of the trowel, your ceiling will look awesome. Start with the lead border and then go from there. Use a 12-16 in trowel. let it dry and paint it in a semi-gloss white.
You need a 5 gallon bucket of sheetrock putty, you can mix white ceiling paint in this and use a putty knife to put it evenly on the ceiling, While still wet, you can use a brush (round) to push gently into the wet mixture and then twist, this makes a really pretty ceiling. Also you can get a trowle, (Square) turn it sideways and do a half turn, this makes like a fan texture. Really pretty. After you are complete to brighten it up use a thick roller and put a coat of white over it.
