It is normal to be nervous before any surgery, so your feelings are justified. But, in saying that, you don't want to focus on the negative..how much it may hurt, what will happen in surgery, etc. Pick something to focus on...a happy event, a song you love. Then when you start to worry, refocus.

I work in the surgical waiting room of our local hospital, which means I escort those having surgery back to the pre-op area, talk with their relatives, and let them know when the patient is in recovery. Last week, I had a woman who was rushed into surgery because her doctor thought her breast lump was cancer. She stopped and cried on the way to the pre op room. I helped her pick a happy event rather than what was ahead of her...her son had just been accepted to Hollywoods film college. She thought of that the whole time, rather than of the fears of surgery and the outcome. When I spoke to her in the recovery room, she thanked me and said that re focusing helped her and she had a quick recover from the anesthetic because she was in the right frame of mind. And bless her, no cancer. Her worries would have been wasted energy, but instead, she had happy thoughts about her son.

You are normal; we all fear surgery, but just replacing worry with happy thinking works.

Good luck. Eat lots of popsickles and icecream afterwards. You will be fine.I am having my tonsills out tomorrow and am quite nervous, any words of advice to stop me from being like this
hey relax it don't hurt that bad my fiance had them removed you just can't eat any really cold things and really hot things
My mum almost fifty years ago had her tonsils taken out by my opthamologist in his office. She was fascinated said they looked like little plums.

Not knowing how old you are, you can look forward to soft foods for a few days afterwards, so if you want to you can indulge in ice cream and popsicles, frozen yogurt, pudding.

Having your tonsils out will be a good thing. You'll get less sick once they're out. Good luck.
Think of all that lovely ice-cream you can eat as an excuse for your poor throat - and you'll get away with it plus lots of sympathy. Play it for as long as you can!!

Seriously, small ops these days, like tonsillectomies are no big deal; within a week you'll have recovered well and no more problems with tonsillitis.
Just relax, and load up on lots of popsicles, Avoid any dairy, and even chocolate, It took me about 2 weeks to feel better ( I was 23) when I had them out, Just follow doctors advise. Mostly you will be tired, and eating will be hard, As for pain it is no worse than the sore throats you got before you had them out. Good luck.

I felt so much better after I got mine out, I didn't even catch a cold for 6 years after, and I was sick like 10 times a year before.
I hope you mean in a private hospital!

Tonsils is a relatively simple operation, they will give you something that will put you to sleep, and you wake up with a sore throat.. but you can have ice cream , popsiciles to cool the throat and you should be fine in a day or 3.

Blessings!
I hate it for you. That is some hurting stuff! It will hurt for weeks, if it doesn't become infected. Infection kills a lot of people because the tonsils are so close to the brain. But the pain is the worst. Try not to swallow too much blood, too, because that will make you so sick. Good luck.
