Is It Ok For A Psychologist To Talk To And Give Advice To Their Client Via Email?

I like to mind peoples privacy, but the other day I noticed my spouse has had exchanged emails with out therapist. They also said some things about me I was not happy with, but that is subjective.

Does it cross some sort of ethical code or something for a psychologist/therapist to give therapy and advice to clinet through email for free.Is It Ok For A Psychologist To Talk To And Give Advice To Their Client Via Email?
It's a very dangerous grey area. It's a well know fact that psychologists get an emotional edge on their clients making it possible for them to take advantage of them which is why it's illegal for them to have physical or romantic relationships with clients. Corresponding through e-mail seems dangerous however depending on the context could be completely harmless. The big problem is that you should be the one your spouse talks to about problems most of the time, NOT the psychologist. By corresponding through e-mail the psychologist may be abusing the position and going beyond therapist into the realm of relationship which could harm your relationship and easily cause your spouse to start having romantic feelings for the psychologist. The fact that it is ';Free'; further makes the psychologist motives seem very bad. I would say it needs to end and the best way for that may be for you to start listening to your spouses problems more so they don't turn to the psychologist to muchIs It Ok For A Psychologist To Talk To And Give Advice To Their Client Via Email?
Why would it be different than from saying it in person or on the phone. It seems to me this person is actually a very caring person to take the time to do this. Do you think you are looking for something to be wrong cause you are hurt %26amp; feel betrayed by the info. you read? I think that is the issue you really want to focus on. If you feel they are teaming up against you, you have to find out if that is true or not %26amp; get your own therapist or deal with where that pattern originated in your life %26amp; how to forgive those you believe did that to you.
I think it rides the fence regarding ethics. If it were me, I wouldn't be comfortable with it.

But it's the same old story, the technology is available and utilized before standards of use are established. This is one area I believe needs serious consideration.
