Can anyone give me advice or tips on how to write a song?

I am a freshman in high school and want to go to college for performing arts/music.


I want to be a singer/songwriter.. But just don't know how to write a song.


If it may effect your answer, I play piano, not guitar.Can anyone give me advice or tips on how to write a song?
When you write a song , you think about the subject you want the song to be about. You have to learn the craft of songwriting. To do that get some really good song lyrics from known hits in the genre you want. Follow the same pattern. Meaning the rhyming, what pattern of rhyming such as a,a,b,a . Which means the two lines match with the last line on your song. Google 'songwriting' tips and you can learn a lot more. You will learn about bridges, starting with the title and working from the title and stuff like that. Words are very important. Try to use words that are different from the mainstream. Good luck.
