I am looking for advice on directing theatre?

I just got hired by a theatre company and will be in charge of casting and directing various plays and musicals throughout the season. Any advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated.I am looking for advice on directing theatre?
What kind of theatre company? Will you be working with adults, children, or a mixture of the two? What kind of theatrical experience do you have? Do you have a working knowledge of blocking, set design, costume design, music, and technical theatre? I'd like to be able to give you more detailed tips, but here are some good general ideas:

a. Have good interpersonal skills. Be able to relate to your actors.

b. STAY ORGANIZED! This is often the hardest thing for theatre folks to do. Keep on top of your deadlines and make sure you know where important paperwork is.

c. Get acquainted with the current staff, from techies to secretaries to actors. Get some insight into who's reliable and who will go the extra mile to get the job done.

d. Stay calm! :) You'll be absolutely fine, and you'll have a blast.

e. Keep a running library of straight shows and musicals. Introduce yourself to different genres. Familiarize yourself with the classics.

f. Don't be afraid to ask for help!

No real offense, and I'd ba happy to add anything I can in e mail, but I have some questions.

How were you hired?

What is your background, education, experience to date, credentials, references, etc.?

IN CHARGE relates to not only experience, and knowledge, but a 'presence'; that commands what DIRECT is defined as, and being in control, no matter the runny nose, or the late show for call time, or the missed lines in not doin g what your charges are supposed to do.

You may not have groupies, or a fan club,,,if you succeed, but you certainly can be respected in your peer group.

You need a wealth of knowledge of acting, directing, and all genres of plays. It's not something you can be become adept at in a few months.
You were hired without any experience?

Gosh. Good luck, you'll need a lot of it.
