Whats the best advice for someone heading off to college?

So i have been accepted by a local college and am moving out this fall. Whats the best advice you can give me for what to expect? and what could i do now to have a good college expeience. Im really nervous about college. How do you like it. Lol just tell me everything you wanted to know before you went to college.Whats the best advice for someone heading off to college?
1. Take studies seriously. Don't miss classes and ditch out on homework because you have the freedom to do so.


2. Create a schedule for yourself and stick to it. For instance, if you have an hour between classes don't go back to your dorm - go to the library and get some work done.


3. Reward yourself for sticking to #s 1 %26amp; 2 - make time for fun. Attend functions offered on campus that are usually free or discounted to students. You'll often learn something and meet other people who like to do something besides get wasted all the time.


4. Be safe and have a buddy system when you go out and always let someone know where you are if you go out with someone you don't know well.


5. Stay true to who you are - don't go with the crowd.


6. Contact your parents once or twice a week - let them know you are okay. I talk to my kids every day - but that may not be your deal. But do stay in touch with family - they love you.

Block time for yourself in the Library daily. For instance, if you have a class from 8-10 and the next one starts at 1, then go to the Library every day from 10 -12 (then lunch) whether you have homework, or study work to do or not. Humans are creatures of habit, and if you develop the habit of being where you can do nothing but study, then you will be successful.
think of it as the transition from middle school to high school, the work got a bit harder, and the community had more variety and opportunities. for the dorm life, its what you make of it. you would get a**holes and friendlies. so try to enjoy it as much as you can. be sure to study and not only party.
