I need some advice about my current job?

I currently have a job that only pays 11 dollars and hour. Much lower than the nation average. They also offer no benefits. I had a second job but quit after I recently became injured and can't stand or walk for long periods of time. I am currently in physical therapy. My boss offered me extra hours from home and a company provided laptop. However, now he reneging on that offer. He also was supposed to already given my review and a dollar raise but that won't happen either

I am 30 years old with two degrees and I just want one job that pays between 30 and 40 k per year with benefits. So far I have no responses from places I have applied for. Anyone have any advice for me? I am single and need more money to survive. I am on barest of expenses now.I need some advice about my current job?
Welcome to the new economy.

Contrary to governments skewed statistics and the financial ';experts'; the economy is slowing way, way down. Jobs are hard to find.

Now for your situation, you need to ask yourself why your boss is changing his tune. Is it because his business is suffering (most are right now), or is it because of your own work abilities? If his decisions have been made due to the economy, all you can do is try to find ways to help him be successful and then stick it out until his business does better. But if the problem lies in you, then you are the only one that can fix that.

As to comparing yourself to the national average, don't. The ';national average'; is a lie. The Department of Labor includes benefits and taxes in that figure and you are not. The DOL also includes people with uber education that are professionally working, people like doctors, psychiatrist, dentists, VP of Finance. Unless your experience and education matches those, you cannot compare your wages to theirs.

What are your ';two'; degrees, both associates? Or do you have a bachelors that means something in the business world?

I have too many questions to give you exact answers, but I can tell you if you don't like your job, start looking for a new one.I need some advice about my current job?
Not sure where you r from, however my heart goes out to you. Very difficult situation. When I know where you are I can try and find out what your rights are.

Best wishes
A lot depends on your career field and your location. If you can move, I would putting out resumes in an area that you would like to live. But I would first check the unemployment stats for that area. You can do that through www.dol.gov (Department Of Labor) Also typically if resumes are going out and there are no responses, then there is something on the resume that is stopping an employer from calling. The number function of the resume is to get them to call you for an interview. I suggest that you look over your resume and see if there is anything negative or questionable on it that might cause an employer to not want to call you for an interview. I'm an employment specialist and if I can be of any additional help, feel free to e-mail me at skibum0109@yahoo.com
